One casino table seats seven to ten players at a time. Guests rotate, take breaks, and stand behind friends, so you do not need a seat for every person. The rule that keeps a room moving is one table for every 10 to 12 guests. That is the number that makes every guest a player instead of a spectator.
Use the guide below for the count, then the game mix and the floor-space math to make sure it fits your room.
Tables by guest count
| Guests | Tables | Floor space |
|---|---|---|
| 15 to 25 | 2 | about 180 sq ft |
| 25 to 40 | 2 to 3 | about 250 sq ft |
| 40 to 75 | 4 to 6 | about 500 sq ft |
| 75 to 120 | 7 to 10 | about 850 sq ft |
| 120 to 150 | 10 to 13 | about 1,100 sq ft |
| 150 or more | 13 and up | ask for a floor plan |
Floor space assumes roughly 80 to 100 square feet per table including the dealer's position and standing room behind the players. If your guests will also be eating, add the dining area separately.
Which games to mix
Every room needs a fast game, a social game, and a loud game.
- Blackjack is the fast game and the anchor. Easy to learn, seven seats, quick hands. Half your tables should be blackjack.
- Roulette is the social game. Up to ten players, no skill required, and the wheel draws a crowd. One roulette table per 40 guests.
- Craps is the loud game. It takes a minute to learn and then becomes the center of the room. One per 50 to 75 guests.
- Poker (Texas Hold'em or Three Card Poker) is for the group that wants to sit down and stay. One or two tables for a mixed crowd; more if you are running a tournament.
Examples
- 30 guests, office party: 2 blackjack, 1 roulette.
- 60 guests, company holiday party: 3 blackjack, 1 roulette, 1 craps, 1 Texas Hold'em.
- 120 guests, gala or fundraiser: 5 blackjack, 2 roulette, 2 craps, 2 poker, plus a pit boss.
Three mistakes that empty a casino floor
- Too few tables. If guests are standing three deep, they drift to the bar and do not come back. Round up.
- All poker. Poker tables hold players for an hour; everyone else waits. Keep poker to a quarter of the floor unless it is a tournament.
- No ending. Announce the cash-in time at the start and run the prize drawing on time. The last thirty minutes are the best of the night when people know the clock is running.

- How many people can play at one casino table?
- Seven to ten at a time depending on the game. Blackjack seats seven, roulette and craps take up to ten or more standing. Guests rotate, so one table serves 10 to 12 guests over an evening.
- How many casino tables for 100 guests?
- Eight to ten tables: roughly four or five blackjack, two roulette, one or two craps, and one or two poker tables, plus a pit boss to run the floor.
- How much space does a casino table need?
- Plan on 80 to 100 square feet per table including the dealer and standing room. A 60-guest party with six tables needs about 500 square feet of open floor.
